If you always think you’re right, then you’re wrong

This has been one of my favourite phrases of all time. It was taught by one of the many motivational books that I’ve read. And it is also something which I’ve tried to practice a lot in my life.

But sometimes, practising it by myself is like clapping with one hand because most people around us don’t think that way.

We’re always surrounded by some stubborn people. I am one of them but definitely not the worst type of stubborn people. Those who always believe they are right are the worst of the bunch. They are the people who always claim they accept other people’s opinions, but they don’t. They are pretty hard to handle since whatever you said is wrong if it’s not the same with what he has in mind. Scary huh? But i’m sure it sounds very familiar to most of you.

In my opinion, there’s no right or wrong in this world (as long as it’s legal and it does not have any negative impact on other people’s life). It’s all based on your life experiences and your background. Saying that money is the most important thing in life is not a wrong thing.. same goes to someone saying that money is the root of all evil. Both are correct in its own context. But somehow.. such simple topic can lead to very serious argument among those involved.

Why? Because not many will accept what they said and believe is wrong. Most people would want to change the opinion of the other person and not change their own opinion. Remember that it is more difficult trying to change a person’s mindset than to change your own mindset.. which is of course, under your control.

Try changing the way you look at things.. NO, you don’t need to give up on what you believe in but it does help if you try to accept what the other person believes in. After all, both of you are neither right nor wrong.

So the next time you meet someone who is super stubborn and who always think he’s right.. (he’s definitely wrong if he always thinks he’s right).. try to stop for a while and change your mindset. He COULD be right.. but it doesn’t mean you’re wrong. It’s just some differences in opinions. That’s all.

If you cannot do that.. then remember this.. no point moving a wall (stubborn people). Try to walk around the wall instead (change your mindset).
